Geographical relevance

The city is in the southern part of Sweden, with a continental climate (northern part of the temperate zone). The area is rather flat. 
 
Cultural relevance

16% of the resident population was born in a foreign country (mostly in Iraq, Syria and Finland). Car ownership rate is 348 cars/1000 inhabitants. Average annual disposable income (2021) is 34,419 Euro.
 
Policy relevance

The region of Östergötland has a Regional PT Authority (RPTA) which is regularly responsible for developing and updating a traffic supply program, a policy document where needs are assessed, and targets are set for the provision of PT in the region (Swedish law 2010:1065, Ch. 2, §10). RPTAs may procure passenger transport and coordination services for those transport purposes that the municipalities or the region must accommodate (§12). Furthermore, they must work to ensure that regional PT is available to all groups of users (§13) and work for a satisfactory supply of taxis in the county (§14).
